Reviews about Trentham Invest Ltd
- Edmond Jackson Review added: 2018.09.26★ ★ ★ ★ ★An observation on Jeremy’s review (no one related to the company has asked me to make): Trentham’s 2.7% transfer fee is industry median average in a 1% to 5% range that’s existed since at least 2015. Look it up online and IFA’s charging 5% justify this on grounds e.g. of complex negotiations sometimes, and lifetime liability (hence insurance costs) involved. Maybe “they would say that wouldn’t they” and pensions advice has been a gravy train, competition is now de-railing. But if 1% relates to mainly transactional administration yet an adviser charges 2.7% and enlarges the net outcome for the client e.g. in complex negotiations with trustees, then this aligns adviser/client interests unless you additionally pay high fees by the hour. Possibly because Trentham appears to have gained its reputation serving senior company directors, it has established this 2.7% rate for value-added outcomes and been competitive. It depends what’s involved. My interest in following such issues is being an investor in listed IFA’s capitalising on the freeing up of pensions, with smaller firms/reviews indicative of the industry. Jeremy’s learning a 2.7% fee apparently only after paying £1,000 isn’t good if he didn’t get an answer at an initial free consultation; but in consumer law one’s got to show three separate quotes for work to prove any is over-priced; which as a matter of personal practice needs doing at the outset. Trentham’s website has some very satisfied clients who would have their reasons, even if this was before pension advice became more competitive. Thus a five-star rating for the service, as balance. Regarding the Financial Services Ombudsman, I referred them a relatively straightforward complaint against Barclays Stockbrokers opened early last August – Barclays has still not answered in early December – but the Ombudsman says it cannot even begin to consider my case until next April.
